Semi-empirical model for predicting LAB and HAB formation in bearing steels

چکیده

The formation of white etching bands (WEBs), including both low- (LAB) and high- (HAB) angle bands, in the subsurface steel bearings due to rolling contact fatigue (RCF) has been investigated over decades understand their characteristics predict during operation. A few studies recently have modelled development LABs theoretically based on thickening lenticular carbides adjacent band controlled by dislocation-assisted carbon migration. To date, no study reported HABs. Based percentage etched region formed bearings, this presents a semi-empirical model that predicts HABs for different pressures. LAB is compared with theoretical from literature experimental data. According this, new more realistically initiation than carbide model. This achieved involving ferrite (cellular elongated) shown as areas under optical images. Literature data used evaluate HAB models. growth pattern obtained provides strong evidence diffusion-based mechanism leading WEB formation.

Evaluation of Empirical Correlations for Predicting Gas Hydrate Formation Temperature

One of the important, practical and simple methods for hydrate formation conditionis empirical equations, and so far many empirical equations have been presented to predict thetemperature and pressure of hydrate formation. In this study, the methods and empiricalcorrelations have been reviewed and their predictive capabilities have been evaluated with ...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

AN INVESTIGATION TO BAINITE FORMATION MORPHOLOGIES IN NI-CR BEARING LOW CARBON STEELS THROUGH THERMOMECHANICAL PROCESSING

The presence of bainite in the microstructure of steels to obtain a proper combination of strength and toughness has always been desired. The previous works however have shown that the presence of preferred bainite morphologies in the microstructure of any steel would not be readily accessible. In addition, the appearance of different bainite morphologies in the microstructure of any steel is d...

A model for predicting the Ms temperatures of steels

Using neural networks in a bayesian framework, a model has been derived for the Ms temperature of steels over a wide range of compositions. By its design and by use of a more extensive database, this model improves over existing ones, by its accuracy and its ability to avoid wild predictions.

Advanced Bearing and Gear Steels for Wind Turbine Applications

There is an urgent need for more durable and cost-effective bearing and gear steels for wind turbine applications; yet we are still using traditional steels such as 8620 and 52100 steels, which are inexpensive and have high strength. However, higher corrosion resistance is required for marine application of wind turbines. Our research group developed under NSF funding a series of high strength ...
